MOSELEY 4THS WON BY 40 RUNS
Kings Heath stuck to the difficult task of bowling to a strong batting side, reducing Moseley to 120 for 8 before they crept up to 161 all out. Aman Khan took four wickets bowling off spin, with Mohammed Abbas and Joe Hawkins taking two each, Nabeel Ahmed and Rizwan also picked up a wicket apiece. Hawkins was on 3rd team debut, after impressing with the bat during a robust 43 in the Academy game in April, and demonstrated good control throughout his seven over spell. The Kings Heath reply got off to a bad start, with Rizwan getting out on the first ball of the innings after hitting fifties in his previous two innings. Bernard O’Connor and 22 year old stalwart Olly O’Brien contributed one run between them from 36 deliveries. Masood Khan and Amit Patel both got good starts, but nobody was able to offer Hawkins support at the other end on his way to another fluent 43. All batsmen were dismissed due to a combination of poor umpiring, bad batting and a few good balls. There was encouraging resistance at the end of the innings from Graham Arrand and Nabeel, withstanding 63 deliveries between them as they fought for the draw, but as expected, Kings Heath were eventually bowled out for 121, falling victim to a 40 run defeat.
