KINGS HEATH WON BY 6 WICKETS
Kings Heath got off to a flying start in their chase of 157, openers Rizwan and Wasim putting on 96 for the first wicket. Rizwan scored his third fifty of the season with a fine 69, taking advantage of multiple misfields and two dropped catches in an agressive display of strokemaking. Wasim contributed a purposeful 35, coupling crisp drives with lofted shots over mid on, until this brought about his downfall - Adam Badger showing resolute determination when he entered the fray, until he was bowled by a ball that kept low. Despite the loss of Rizwan (lbw) and Mike Barlow (bowled), Gregg Arrand nudged the ball to fine leg for the winning single on the first ball of the 34th over. The loss of four wickets reflected the ease of a comfortable victory. Earlier, Castle Bromwich had been tied down by a tight spell from opening bowlers Shak and Rizwan, conceding less than two runs per over in their initial spell. The introduction of Jack Roper and Badger allowed the Castle Bromwich batsmen to score runs more freely, and the introduction of Wahid Chishti did nothing to stem the flow of runs. Spin from Aman Khan and Josh Williams stifled the scoring with overs rushing by, allowing Shak to capitalise on the mounting pressure to deliver a lively spell, taking five wickets (all bowled) including his first hat trick for the club, destroying the Castle Bromwich middle order.
