KINGS HEATH WINNING DRAW
Kings Heath were asked bat on an overcast, cloudy day on a drying wicket - perfect bowling conditions. However Jattin (84) and Rizwan (67) put on 121 for the first wicket. They make a good opening partnership, with very different styles of play. A full ball on middle and leg will be flicked off the pads to fine leg by Jattin, whereas Rizwan will look to launch the same delivery into the air in the arc between mid off and midwicket. Jattin was happy to accumulate runs through singles and twos, hitting the bad ball to the boundary whilst Rizwan looked to dominate from the start. Rizwan was dismissed after 20 overs, and realised that he probably could have scored his first hundred had he batted for longer. Ritesh (33) and Aaron (21) pushed the score up to 214 for 2; during which Aaron hit a majestic straight six into the covers in front of the house at the bottom of the slope and Ritesh consistently left the ball outside off stump but punished anything straight with violent pull shots through midwicket. With the platform set, late acceleration by Matt (22* from 12 balls) saw Kings Heath post a massive 258 from 50 overs. Kenilworth never tried chasing down the total, and despite a number of bowling changes and inventive fields they refused to play any shots, and crawled to 150 for 4 from 43 overs. Tight bowling from Kasim and Josh (opening the bowling) enabled good control. Only once the draw was virtually secured in the 43rd over did they begin to hit out, finding the boundary with ease; Crocker was disappointing, overstepping and firing balls down the leg side. Jattin was bludgeoned for several fours but collected a wicket, the fielders having been dispatched to the boundary. However Kenilworth had left themselves too much to do, and finished well short of the total, later revealing that they were merely aiming for 200 runs (maximum batting points).
