MATCH DRAWN
Aldridge set an imposing 262 from their 40 overs, runs flowing at 6.55 per over throughout the innings. Dan Armstrong, playing his first Sunday game of the season was expensive in his opening burst, the Aldridge openers put on 88 for the first wicket, scoring 51 and 97 respectively, before Aldridge moved onto 187 for two at one stage of the innings, their number four also contributing 55. Rizwan collected two wickets during a hostile spell; Josh Williams bowled his full allocation but was expensive; conceding 66 runs in his spell for a single wicket. Wahid Chishti was ineffectual and wicketless, whilst conceding 50 runs in only seven overs. However the introduction of Malik changed the situation - runs still came freely but Aldridge lost wickets (mainly caught on the boundary); Malik finishing with figures of 6-0-46-4. Jattin Patel bowled the final two overs down the hill, his off spin costing just 11 runs and taking a wicket. Kings Heath well poised for an assault on the bowling, the score on 93 for 1 after 9 overs with Sam Crocker the player out – bowled for just nine. Rizwan was his typical self; making the most of several lives before he was caught at mid on for 68 which included 12 boundaries, having reduced the required rate to only 5.45. However the score soon stagnated and the strong position was compromised, the total moving on by only 38 runs in the next 15 overs, and the required run rate increasing to an unmanageable 8.19 per over. This left Kings Heath needing 131 to win from the final 16 overs and the remaining batsmen were given licence to go for the target. Lusty hitting by Adnan (33) and Armstrong (21) carried the score to 188 for 4. The lower order lost a late flurry of wickets with some brainless batting when the target mathematically impossible and out of reach, collapsing to 207 for 9 at the start of the last over; which was safely negotiated to secure the draw.
