RACE NIGHT for Vishi Jeet – Friday 28th June 7.15pm to Midnight

The Race Night is fast approaching and all is going well. All of the six races have been sponsored and Vishi's flights have been paid for as a consequence.  Without this Race Night we would not be able to afford Vishi to come over so please continue to support the Race Night.

There have been a few questions about how the night will work so here goes. On the stage there will be a carpet that has the below grid painted on. There will be two big sponge dice. Both dice will be rolled at the same time, dice 1 will identify the horse to move and dice 2 how many spaces to move. To win, the horse must land exactly on the finish. There will be six races in total throughout the night.

How the betting will work. 

The auctioning of the horses

Before each race, the MC (Pembo), will auction each of the six horses off to the crowd. Therefore get with your friends to form a syndicate to buy a horse in each race to win BIG. Once all horses have been bought each syndicate will send a person to ride the horse on the stage and the race will begin. If each horse gets auctioned for £50 there will be £300 in the race pot. KHCC will take half of that (£150) for funding the Vishi Jeet and the other half (150) will go to the syndicate that bought the winning horse – Bet big to win BIG.


Tote Betting on the races

After the six horses for the race have been auctioned there will be 5-10 minutes to go place £1 multiple bets on horses running at the Tote. Your entrance ticket entitles you to a one off free £5 bet on the first race, after that you can but tickets £1 tickets. For each £1 bet you will get a ticket for that horse. If your horse comes in first each ticket will have a payout amount announced by the MC and you can go and cash your ticket. The amount the winning tickets will be worth will vary depending on the winning horse's popularity. If you back a horse that did not get many £1 bets on it your winning ticket will be worth a lot, whereas if you back a horse that had lots of £1 bets the winning ticket value will be smaller.

Ticket Sales:

All senior playing members have been allocated three tickets each and your respective captains will be giving you them this weekend. You will be asked for £45 in return upfront and it is your responsibility to come yourself and sell two tickets (family, friends etc).

There are 16 horses left to train at £10 each, please contact Pembo to train a horse and get your name in the programme, up on screen on the night and have the chance of winning £30.

Morning all,

The Cricket committee met last night to go through final preparation for the season and below is a summary of the key action points and upcoming events. I have written this on behalf of the committee who are doing a great job in pushing the club forward, namely, Jonnie Turpie, Paul Monk, Dave Monk, Davo, Gregg Arrand, Graham Arrand, Alan Hyatt, Dave Sallis, Spinko, Andy Payne, Philo. Feel free to buy them a drink for their hard work and volunteered dedication!

Fantasy Cricket
Today is the last chance to register your fantasy team before the season starts! Get involved and pit you wits against each other to see if you are a future Captain or selector. More importantly win bragging rights in the changing room and clubhouse.

Vishi Jeet in flight
Our Overseas will soon be on the iron bird starting is 36 hour trip from New Zealand.  Vishi is a premium cricket player that will help KHCC achieve success at weekend with his precocious talent and through the week by coaching junior teams. Please take the time to welcome Vishi personally and if you can support him in any way please let us know.


Rigs Fitness Sessions
Following the massive success of the pre-season fitness session with on average 15 player per session, further sessions are going to be arranged to continue our fitness improvements. Watch this space, I am in talks with Sam at Rigs to arrange times and dates.


Buy a Brick
Plans are in the final stages for the erection of a new building to become our new electronic score board and storage facility. The committee have been working tirelessly getting quotes, arranging planning permission and submitting funding applications. The project will cost in the region of 20k but will be an investment that leaves a legacy for the club. We need your help in ensuring this facility is erected ASAP, hence Buy a Brick. In the near future there will be options to buy a brick for the facility and become part of the legacy. The options will be:

£10 to buy a brick and get your name engraved on the role of honour who contributed

£100 to have your name on an outer brick to ensure you stay part of the legacy

Selection
Please update your availability on clubhouse ASAP for selection that happened on Tuesday nights. As of next week there will be selection for Saturday 1st, 2nd, 3rd andSunday 1st, 2nd. 

I am taking the captaincy of the Sunday 1st team for the first half of the season then Louie Turpie will take over. Amit has taken Captaincy of the Sunday 2nd team. We have all had a discussion and want to progress the Sunday cricket this year to take a more professional attitude and approach to ensure the younger lads who are coming through the junior ranks get a real experience of what senior cricket is all about and learn from more experienced players.  Therefore I would ask you to make yourself available and express an interest if you are keen to play, as six week of the year we will have two Sunday teams to fulfil.

I am going to shortly post a big notice updating on the Race-Night so far, how the night will run and what is still left to do! It's shaping up fantastically well and thank you for your support so far!


Umpires Room Clear Out
Please can everyone get to Nets on Thursday at 6.00pm so we can clear out the umpires room. This will take 20 blokes 10 minutes but would take 2 blokes 2 hours. Many thanks in advance


Nets on a Thursday night
The club is progressing in standard of cricket on a Saturday and Sunday and level of professionalism off the pitch. We need to mirror this with our approach to Thursday night Senior Nets. I will be posting a Senior nets email to detail how the changes to the Thursday nights. Please read this and come ready to train to improve and win!

Pre-Season Fitness Training with Rigs Fitness Ltd

All Senior and Academy Players:

> Following our promotion to the BIG League this year, the competiton will be tougher, fitter and stronger. To compete and suceed we need to up our fitness level and traning ethic. Therefore we have arranged three pre-season fitness sessions with Rigs Elite Performance Fitness Centre. Sam Smith, top fitness coach, has put together three cricket specific sessions to make sure we hit the ground running come the start of the season.

> This is an essential for all first and second eleven players and is trongly advsied for third eleven and academy players. Our streght in depth last year was second to none with all senior teams finishing in the top 2 and the sunday team reaching the final of the T20. Therefore lets train as a club and push forward.

> Do not be put off with the title of Elite Performance as Sam smith will tailor the session to individuals different fitness levels so each person gets the most out of the sessions

New Players for 2013 - Clubhouse Reminder

Dear Club Member,

This season we've decided to manage team selection through a web-based service called Clubhouse. The idea is that a player can go online to state their availability for communication and then chat about the games once the teams have been selected through Clubhouse. This letter/email is just to let you know we plan to use it for the forthcoming games. To start using Clubhouse you can either check your email and follow the invitation I've sent out or simply go directly to the site and join the club on there.

When you first log-in Clubhouse will ask you for your personal details. Please fill these in so we have an up-to-date record. Do not worry, these details will not be passed to any third parties by Clubhouse, they are for our use only.

Once you've filled these in, click activate and you'll be logged in. From here you will be able to see a list of the upcoming games for the season and be able to mark yourself either available or unavailable for each game. As the season progresses please login as and when you know your availability. Clubhouse will remind you to come to the site as necessary. Each week it will send an email reminding you about the upcoming games.

Once selection has taken place you'll receive an email if you have been picked to play on the team. This email will direct you to the Clubhouse where you will be able to see the team and chat about the game. Clubhouse will then ask you if you can definitely play and you should confirm this. If for some reason you can't play, let a captain know ASAP.

Clubhouse does not rely on emails so members who do not regularly check their emails should not panic. The emails act as reminders only, and players can still use the system if they never check their email, as long as they simply visit Clubhouse once a week. However it is likely to be beneficial for all players to check their emails regularly to be reminded about selection matters, amongst other things.

So in summary:

  1. Go to your inbox or http://www.clubhouseapp.com to activate your account.
  2. Set availability on Clubhouse.
  3. Receive selection email.
  4. Come to Clubhouse to confirm, see meet time and rest of team.
  5. Play!
