KINGS HEATH WON BY 89 RUNS
Josh Baker and Callum Bird opened for Kings Heath in this must win game; but surprisingly both batsmen were out for just a single each. Umar and Ben strode to the crease and slowly but surely built their innings, with quick singles and odd two's before hitting the odd boundary and Umar’s first six of the season. Umar reached his 50 before being caught at mid on for 52. Louie Turpie joined Ben who completed the innings with his season top score of 46.
With the knowledge that Kings Heath had to bowl out Sheldon to be sure of winning the South Birmingham League; Rashid bowled fast from the top end and began with a miserly five runs off his first three overs. Louie began from the other end with a maiden, followed by two wickets for two runs. Rash then delivered his best over of the season taking three wkts for no runs. Callum and Naweed picked up the attack taking a wicket each. Umar and Mohammed Akthar came on and Mo took the final Sheldon wicket to see Kings Heath come through the challenge and step up to the plate and win the South Birmingham League. The win was witnessed by the coaching management and parents who have supported the lads through the season.

League match at Kings Norton Boys School
Kings Heath 123 for 7 in 20 overs
Kings Norton 56 for 8 in 20 overs
KINGS HEATH WON BY 67 RUNS
Following the quickly re-arranged venue the sixth league game of the season began with captain Louie Turpie winning the toss and electing to bat. Josh Baker and Joe Jennings led the way against a young Kings Norton side; core scoring by Josh, Ben Rattley, Luke Baker and an accomplished 33 by Umar Rehman put a good score of 123 on the board. It was an unpredicable artificial wicket with a very slow outfield that made runs hard to get. Many balls did not rise and left batsmen in two minds about what shot to play. Umar’s innings was brought to an end by a catch taken by Jamey Field in the midriff off a sharp boundary bound shot by Umar.

Kings Heath went out to bowl on a tricky wicket; the bowlers run ups were on grass and with no spikes it was difficult to keep balance. Rashid and Naweed opened the attack and Naweed excelled with accurate line and length at medium pace – achieving figures of 4-3-1-3. Callum Bird and Pardeep Ruprai bowled beautifully to achieve one wicket for nine runs and one for 16 respectively. Louie came on for two overs and took two consecutive wickets from his first two balls. Rashid had a difficult session on the pitch that resulted in him being withdrawn following two consecutive unintended beamers after conceding only four runs off 3.5 overs.

U13 v Harborne, 18/06/09
Harborne 98 for 5 in 20 overs (Charrandij 30*, Michael 35*)
Kings Heath 99 for 1 in 15 overs (Umar Rehman 53*, Callum Bird 23*)
KINGS HEATH WON BY 9 WICKETS
Under quite a lot of cloud Harbornne captain Tom Cloughton won the toss and chose to bat. Opening bowlers Rashurd Ali and Louie Turpie bowled an aggressive and accurate four overs each. Three quick wickets fell for 14 with great fielding all round with stops by Luke Baker and Umar Rehman in particular saving precious runs. A secure partnership of 65 saw Harborne reach 98 for 5 from 20 overs.

The Kings Heath innings began with the surprise loss of Josh Baker’s wicket after high scores in the last three matches. Callum Bird came in to build a brilliant partnership with Umar to to overcome the total. The pair balanced quick singles and well placed boundaries with a classy 23 from Callum with Umar posting an exciting and assured 53. Both received vigorous support from parents, coaches, young players and the team.
